This plant is popular in aquascaping for its versatility and ability to thrive in a variety of tank setups, providing a natural and serene look.

  • Care Requirements

    • Lighting: Low to moderate. It thrives in shaded areas and does not require intense lighting.
    • CO₂ Requirement: Optional, but CO₂ supplementation enhances growth and color vibrancy.
    • Water Parameters:
      • Temperature: 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F)
      • pH: 5.5 to 7.0
      • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard (3-12 dGH)
    • Substrate: Requires a nutrient-rich substrate as it absorbs most nutrients through its roots.
    • Growth Rate: Slow to moderate.
    • Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed. Remove old or damaged leaves to maintain a healthy plant.
  • Planting and Propagation

    • Planting:
      • Plant individual rhizomes in the substrate, ensuring the roots are buried, but the rhizome remains above the substrate to prevent rot.
      • Leave sufficient space between plants for spreading.
    • Propagation:
      • Propagates through runners that form small daughter plants.
      • You can separate the daughter plants and replant them to expand the colony.

    • Foreground to Midground Plant: Ideal for small aquariums or as a midground filler in larger tanks.
    • Natural Look: Blends well with rocks and driftwood for a biotope or natural-style aquascape.
