Description
Staurogyne repens is a hardy and versatile foreground to midground aquatic plant known for its compact, bushy growth and small, bright green leaves. It is widely used in aquascaping due to its low profile and ability to create dense, natural-looking clusters. S. repens adds texture and contrast to aquariums, providing an appealing transition between hardscapes and taller plants.

Lighting: Moderate to high. Adequate light promotes compact growth and vibrant green leaves.
CO₂ Requirement: Optional but recommended for faster, healthier growth and better adaptation in low-tech setups.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F)
pH: 6.0 to 7.5
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard (4-12 dGH)
Substrate: Nutrient-rich substrate is beneficial, but S. repens can also absorb nutrients from the water column.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Pruning: Regular trimming encourages bushy growth and prevents the plant from becoming leggy
Planting and Propagation
 
Planting:
Plant small clusters of stems in the substrate, spacing them a few centimeters apart to allow for spreading.
Ensure the roots are well-anchored, and the base of the stem is not buried too deeply to avoid rot.
Propagation:
Propagate by cutting healthy stems and replanting them.
Each trimmed stem will develop roots and grow into a new plant.
Special Considerations
Growth Form: Under optimal conditions, S. repens stays compact and spreads horizontally. Without sufficient light, it may grow taller and lose its dense appearance.
Algae Control: Keep water conditions stable to prevent algae growth on its leaves.
