Diet: In their natural habitat, strawberry cichlids feed primarily on small invertebrates and plankton. In captivity, they can be fed a varied diet consisting of high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and occasional treats like live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia.
Tank Requirements: To keep strawberry cichlids healthy and thriving, provide them with a tank that mimics their natural habitat. This includes plenty of rocks and caves for them to establish territories and hiding spots. The water should be kept clean and well-oxygenated, with temperatures ranging from 75°F to 80°F (24°C to 27°C) and a pH between 7.8 to 8.6.
Compatibility: While generally peaceful, strawberry cichlids can be territorial, especially during breeding. It's best to keep them in a species-specific tank or with other peaceful Tanganyikan cichlid species. Avoid housing them with aggressive or larger fish that may intimidate or outcompete them.
